Lastlight for Android

EARLY ACCESS

Choose your distracting apps, set an evening allowance, and hold the boundary until morning. Fifteen quiet minutes earn a chapter.

Download Android · ARM64 ↓

Version 0.1.0 · Android 8.0+ · 64-bit ARM phones

ARM64 suits most current Android phones.

Other Android devices +

Download ARM32 APK — older 32-bit ARM phones.

Download x86-64 APK — Intel/AMD devices and compatible emulators.

All builds require Android 8.0 or later. If Android says a package is incompatible, check your device architecture before choosing another build.

Installation & permissions +

This is an early test build distributed directly, not a Google Play listing. Open the APK on Android and allow installation from your browser if you choose. Review the in-app disclosure, then enable Lastlight Accessibility in system settings.

Accessibility observes app identifiers and timing to show a blocking screen. It does not read messages, posts, or typed text. Protection stops if you disable the service or uninstall the app. Device battery restrictions can interrupt it.

Always keep calls, maps, and essential apps unselected. This is voluntary protection with an intentional bypass. Read the privacy notice →

01 / THE OPENING

For the “one more reel”
version of you.

It’s 11 pm. You meant to check one thing. Forty minutes later, you’re still there.

Lastlight meets that moment with a small, achievable escape. Leave your selected feeds for a quiet window, help a keeper restore a lost radio signal, and discover what arrived by morning.

Initial audience: adults who want to stop scrolling in bed but keep overriding ordinary limits. Start with this one repeatable moment.

02 / FEEL THE LOOP

A small way out.
A reason to stay out.

This interactive sketch compresses one night into a few taps. The Android app uses an explicitly enabled accessibility service to hold your app boundary until morning. This browser walkthrough only simulates that experience.

  1. 01
    Catch the drift

A user-set evening allowance ends. Chosen feeds are shielded.

  2. 02
    Send a little light

Leave your chosen feeds. Five quiet minutes light the first beacon.

  3. 03
    Let the story travel

Reach 15 quiet minutes to earn a chapter. Your selected feeds stay blocked until morning.

  4. 04
    Find it in the morning

A short postcard reveals the next clue. Then you’re done.

INTERACTIVE WALKTHROUGH 01 / 04

THE GAME’S PROMISE

Progress without the pressure.

☾

One chapter. Then stop.

A fixed daily reward cap. No endless collecting, loot boxes, or extra rewards for opening more often.

⌁

A missed night is just a night.

No dying pet. No erased village. Earlier chapters stay yours; resume the next evening.

↗

Life stays available.

Only chosen distracting apps are restricted. Calls, maps, and essentials stay accessible.

03 / THE OPPORTUNITY

The reward is
what happens next.

Forests, pets, and villages already exist. Our proposed angle combines a bedtime-specific intervention with finite narrative progress and a delayed morning reveal.

Positioning against selected competitors
ProductPublished game mechanicLastlight’s proposed angle
Forest ↗Focus time grows trees; strict-session failure can wither them.Short escapes from evening feeds, with story chapters.
Uuumi ↗A pet’s environment reacts to screen-time habits.Curiosity and narrative, without a vulnerable pet.
Scroll Survival ↗Completed focus sessions grow a village.A finite mystery with a clear nightly stopping point.

Official product descriptions checked 20 October 2026. This is a positioning hypothesis, not a claim of worldwide novelty or proven effectiveness. A narrative skin alone is easy to copy; the bedtime experience and measurable outcomes must earn retention.

A FIRST SEASON

Seven nights.
One missing signal.

Original illustrative story direction.
Short chapters, hand-authored. No live content feed.

01✦

The first light

A radio blinks in an abandoned lighthouse.

02–03⌁

Across the water

A scattered transmission reveals a route.

04–06✳

The quiet coast

Each signal brings the keeper closer.

07☼

Someone answers

A complete ending. A keepsake. Time to leave.

04 / WHAT WE BUILD FIRST

A focused MVP.
One coast. One habit.

EARLY ACCESS Flutter / Android first
01

Set your evening boundary

Choose distracting apps, a bedtime schedule, and a usage allowance within that window.

↗
02

Make the exit easy

A shield explains the boundary. Open Lastlight to choose a wind-down cue or take an explicit bypass.

↗
03

Track a 5 → 15 minute quiet window

Five minutes light a checkpoint; 15 earn a chapter. Check selected-app use, not whether someone slept.

↗
04

Ship seven illustrated chapters

One lighthouse scene, seven morning postcards, and a final keepsake. One reward per night.

↗
05

Keep progress gentle and local

Save earned chapters on-device. Bypassing ends this attempt; previous nights remain intact. No account required.

↗
06

Keep an honest progress record

See earned chapters, intentional bypasses, and interrupted app openings. Richer weekly reports remain a later feature.

↗
Feasibility & the first engineering spike +

Android protection uses window-state accessibility events and a native blocking overlay. The early build needs user-enabled Accessibility and real-device validation, especially across battery restrictions and service restarts. The generated iOS project does not yet block apps; Family Controls entitlements and Mac signing remain future work.

The MVP responds to app usage limits and schedules, not the contents of Reels or a count of swipes. Verify quiet periods with system activity data where supported, including allowed grace handling; do not award completion from a timer alone. A five-minute checkpoint is feedback, not a separate farmable reward.

Offline actions such as stretching are suggestions in the web demo, not verified achievements. Android story progress uses observed quiet time; unverified service gaps are not rewarded. Actual enforcement requires the installed Android app and your explicit permission. Apple Family Controls documentation ↗

05 / HOW WE KNOW IT HELPS

Measure quieter nights.
Not more app opens.

Proposed pilot: 20–30 adult bedtime scrollers. Observe a seven-night baseline, then offer a fourteen-night test. Treat results as directional; a follow-up controlled test should isolate the story’s effect.

PRIMARY OUTCOMELess use of chosen feeds
during the bedtime window

Compare minutes per night with each person’s baseline.

SUPPORTING SIGNALSCompleted exits, fewer bypasses,
voluntary use in week two

Check whether the novelty lasts beyond the opening chapter.

EXPERIENCE CHECK“I felt helped, not guilty.”

Ask whether the reward made people return to their phones.

MONETIZATION HYPOTHESIS

Keep basic boundaries and the first story free. Test a one-time purchase for a complete new season only after the behavior loop works. No paid streak repairs or rewards for extra scrolling.
